Dr. Romo’s Background

Dr. Romo is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Subsequent to his graduation from the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery program at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary (NYC), Dr. Romo completed a one-year Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship at the Infirmary. He then finished a second fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, sponsored by The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, at Tampa General Hospital.

Dr. Romo published six new surgical techniques for rhinoplasty surgery in the latest editions of the periodical “Facial Plastic Surgery.” In this internationally recognized peer-reviewed journal, Dr. Romo describes his approach to primary reduction-structured rhinoplasty that produces a more natural-looking nose with greater predictability for the long-term outcome. He also demonstrates his technique for revision rhinoplasty that shortens the healing time by limiting the morbidity of multiple-donor graft sites. Dr. Romo illustrates a method for augmentation of the flatter, platyrrhine or ethnic nose, which produces a safer and natural-looking nose on people of color, fitting the race and the face of the individual. These innovative facial plastic surgical techniques are the culmination of more than twenty years of researching, designing, publishing, and teaching facial plastic surgery procedures, both nationally and internationally.

In addition to holding several innovative medical patents and having been published in numerous medical journals, Dr. Romo has received a myriad of honors and awards, including the Distinguished Education Award and the Community Service Award by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Romo is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and maintains a diverse private practice, treating women and men in finance, communications, and entertainment, as well as many on the social register.

Dr. Romo has appeared on major national and local television talk shows and news programs. He has also served as a guest lecturer at medical meetings throughout Eastern and Western Europe, South America, Australia, Asia, and the Middle East.
