There are a lot of cosmetic surgery procedures available, for people who would like to improve the current state of their breasts. This is true whether you’re in a New York clinic asking about breast augmentation, or a New Jersey doctor’s office asking about mommy makeovers, or just about anywhere else in the country. The continuing spread and dissemination of cosmetic surgeons around the country is a boon for people who would like to improve their appearance.

That said, it’s also important to have a good channel of communication with your plastic surgeon. Since there are many procedures and sub-procedures related to breast enhancement, it’s possible for patients to get confused, or to have a hard time choosing what procedure to undergo. Communication is something that we take very seriously. You’ll find that whether you go to one of our clinics in New York or New Jersey, we will make it a point to ask you what you want, and what you need, so that we can better understand each other.

So let’s take a look at the procedure known as the breast lift, and the factors in determining whether this procedure is right for you. The first thing to keep in mind, and one of the most important pieces of information, is that a breast lift is not the same as a breast enlargement. A breast lift does not involve gummy bear breast implants, or other breast implants of the more traditional variety. As a result, it is important not to expect that there will be a significant increase in apparent breast size brought about by the procedure.

Instead, your cosmetic surgeon will be using the breast lift procedure to achieve breasts which have a higher position on your chest, as well as breasts which have a more firm feeling when touched. Essentially, this procedure is aimed at undoing some of the effects brought about by increased age, the long term effects of gravity, and possible sagging due to breastfeeding or a drop in weight. So right away, it’s important to make sure that expectations are set appropriately and realistically. If you would also like larger breasts, you can talk to one of our cosmetic surgeons about the possibility of getting gummy bear implants or other types of breast implants.

Going into greater detail, here are some things to consider about your body, in relation to a breast lift. Do your breasts appear to have any sagging? Has the sagging resulted in a change in the shape of your breasts, that you are not pleased with? Have your breasts taken on a more flat or more hanging type of appearance? Also, take a look at the skin of your breasts. Is there skin that appears to be stretched in a way that you’re not happy with? Take a closer look at your nipples and the surrounding skin. Do your nipples point downwards? What about symmetry? Does one breast appear to hang lower than the other, when they are not supported by a bra? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, a breast lift procedure may be right for you.
