THE PROCEDURE
Mastopexy is an out-patient (same day) procedure. After arriving at the surgical center, you will be put to sleep using general anesthesia. Once this is completed, the areola and nipple are also raised. Dr. Fiorillo will also remove excess breast skin and reduce enlarged areolas (if necessary). Once finished, the incision is closed, and the dressings are placed.
THE RECOVERY
After surgery, the breasts are bandaged. You must wear a support bra. You will experience some swelling, and bruising may be persistent for several weeks afterward. While the breasts continue to “settle” over the following months, you will notice a change in your breast shape. Swelling subsides, and incision lines fade over 6 to 12 months.
