New York’s Labiaplasty Expert

Labiaplasty, also known as cosmetic rejuvenation of the female genitalia, is a surgical procedure performed to reduce the size of the outer and inner vaginal lips.

Labiaplasty is the most commonly performed vaginal rejuvenation procedure, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Am I a Candidate for Labiaplasty?

The primary reason why women seek labiaplasty is typically because they are dissatisfied with the labial tissues that protrude outside the vaginal openings. This could be caused by several reasons such as genetics, childbirth, or simply the natural aging process.

If you experience the following, then you may be a candidate for labiaplasty:

  • You experience pain during intercourse due to protruding labia
  • The vaginal lips show in snug-fitting clothing or your bathing suits
  • Friction or discomfort from walking, exercising, and sitting
  • You are embarrassed about your appearance during intimacy
  • Hygiene challenges due to skin infection, irritation, or friction as a result of the protruding labia

Dr. Michael Fiorillo is our lead labiaplasty surgeon, and he is ready to offer you all the advice you need and help rejuvenate your female genitalia and provide other health benefits with labiaplasty.

Dr. Fiorillo uses various techniques to address the specific needs of our patients and to guarantee the best possible outcome.

How is Labiaplasty Performed?

We perform this procedure at our New York City and New Jersey offices and we employ the use of various techniques to allow us to customize the procedure to fit the specific needs of each of our patients.

We perform labiaplasty on an outpatient basis, either under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with sedation. Since labiaplasty patients have different needs and will be seeking different results, Dr. Fiorillo uses various techniques to address the specific needs of our patients and to guarantee the best possible outcome.

Techniques for labiaplasty include:

Trim procedure – Extra tissue is removed and sewn up directly to reduce the size of the labia minora. This technique trims away the darkest part of the labia.

Wedge procedure – A V-shaped wedge from both sides of the labia is surgically removed and the remaining sides are stitched together.

Other areas to target in addition to labiaplasty include:

Clitoral hood reduction – This removes the excess folds that can become more prominent when the labia is shortened during a labiaplasty procedure. Without a clitoral hood reduction, a top-heavy look may result following a labiaplasty.

Labia majoraplasty – By removing excess tissue, this surgery reduces the size of the outer labia majora.

Monsplasty – Bulging in the upper part of the vulva is reduced by removing the skin with liposuction.

The right techniques for your labiaplasty procedure will be determined at your consultation with Dr. Fiorillo.

What Is the Recovery Process Like After Labiaplasty?

After labiaplasty surgery, pain and medications may be prescribed to offset any pain and discomfort you may feel. Your doctor will provide post-operative instructions to ensure your recovery is a smooth process. It is common to experience swelling and bruising in the vaginal area, but it will subside with proper care and time.

The recovery process will vary on a case to case basis, but typically most women can return to their daily schedules one to two weeks following the procedure.

You will be advised to refrain from sexual intercourse for six weeks as it can prolong the healing process.

  • How Much Does Labiaplasty in New York City Cost?

The average cost of a labiaplasty is $2,924, according to 2018 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

It is important to note that this price could vary depending on the techniques used, procedures performed, and surgical fees. Dr. Fiorillo will provide an exact cost estimate at your consultation.

  • What Are the Results After Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty results will shorten your labia, so it does not hang below the labia majora. This surgery will improve your physical comfort and make you feel more confident in your clothing and while participating in daily activities.

  • What Are the Risks Associated With Labiaplasty?

With any plastic surgery procedure, complications and risks are always a possibility.

Dr. Fiorillo will work closely with you to ensure the procedure and recovery process run smoothly.

Some potential risks you may experience are:

    • Bleeding
    • Hematoma
