How is the procedure performed?
JUVÉDERM® injections are performed at our New York and New Jersey offices and take about 15 minutes to administer with no need for anesthesia. Dr. Fiorillo may choose to apply a topical or injectable anesthetic to numb the treatment area and reduce the risk of any potential discomfort. The injection is then administered under the skin in the targeted area to add volume or fill in wrinkles and folds. After the injection, your doctor may gently massage the treated areas.

What is recovery from JUVÉDERM® like?
A JUVÉDERM® patient can return to their regular activities right away with no downtime once the treatment is complete. During the first 24 hours after the treatment, strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure and consumption of alcoholic beverages should be avoided to reduce complications. There may be some mild side effects such as itching, redness, or swelling, but after a short time these effects will subside on their own.
Immediately after the procedure, the results of JUVÉDERM® injections are visible and any swelling and bruising will fade over the next few days. Six to nine months are the expected time for the results to last, but in many cases, it lasts up to a year. JUVÉDERM® injectable gel is the only hyaluronic acid filler that lasts that long.
In general, most patients find that their desired results are achieved in just one treatment session and they may return for a yearly touch-up to maintain the results. What are the potential risks of JUVÉDERM®?
Certain risks are associated with any kind of treatment, even though JUVÉDERM® is considered safe for most patients. These risks may include temporary redness, swelling at the injection site, and some pain, as well as bruising, some discoloration, itching and maybe infection.
