Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery helps improve the shape and size of the breasts through the addition of implants. Women decide to undergo breast augmentation surgery for various reasons, including dissatisfaction with their breast size due to genetics, post-pregnancy changes, significant weight loss, and size imbalances. Regardless of why patients choose breast augmentation surgery, our team strives to provide excellent care to help every patient achieve her desired result.

Benefits of Breast Augmentation

Larger, Fuller Breasts

Breast augmentation is designed to provide enhanced volume to the breasts and can consist of various implant materials and sizes to achieve each patient’s desired goals. The results include increased curves and larger breasts.

Better Body Proportions

A common concern for women is their uneven breasts, which can be resolved through breast augmentation. Each breast implant can contain a different amount of material, which will level out the breast sizes for improved symmetry and balance.

Improved Confidence

After undergoing breast augmentation, patients report feeling more comfortable in their body. Clothing should fit better with your desired cleavage. It is typical to feel a boost in your self-esteem after breast augmentation surgery.

Breast Augmentation Options

  • Anesthesia

General anesthesia is administered to ensure a safe, comfortable procedure. The entire surgery takes between one and two hours. During your initial consultation, you can discuss your personal preferences and any concerns you may have with Dr. Fiorillo.

  • Implant Types

Implants may consist of saline, silicone, or a highly cohesive silicone (known as “gummy bear” implants), which are the preferred implant material due to their natural look and feel. Breast implants can have a smooth or textured surface. The three popular FDA-approved implant brands we use are Allergan (Natrelle®), Mentor®, and Sientra®.

  • Incisions

We use the inframammary technique for breast augmentation, which involves an incision along the line where the breast connects to the chest. This location is inconspicuous and allows access to the underlying tissue for precise breast implant placement.

  • Implant Placement

Once the breast tissues are accessed through the incisions, the implants are placed into a pocket created either under the pectoral muscle (submuscular placement) or under the breast tissue but over the muscle (subglandular placement). The benefits of each placement will be discussed during your consultation.

Breast Augmentation Concerns

Recovery
Recovery

After your procedure, bandaging of the breasts will be used to aid in the healing process. A surgical compression garment or support bra should also be worn to promote healing. Most patients feel tired after their procedure and experience mild discomfort. Your chest may feel sore and tight, and you may notice some bruising, swelling, and tenderness. After one week, most patients can resume daily activities, and dissolvable stitches are removed within 10 days. Strenuous exercise and lifting are not recommended for one to two weeks. It can take some patients up to three weeks to feel back to normal, so it is important to rest and follow your post-surgical instructions to ensure a comfortable recovery.

Scars
Scars

Scarring should be minimal and concealed on the underside of your breasts. Incision lines tend to start fading after two months and continue to lighten over the next year. You should avoid exposing the incisions to direct sunlight to prevent sunburn or more visible scarring.

Cost
Cost

The cost of breast augmentation can range between $5,999 and $9,000, which includes all pre- and post-operative office visits, anesthesia fees, operating room fee, surgeon’s fee, and the implants. Your final price will be calculated during your consultation prior to your breast augmentation procedure.

Pain
Pain

Mild discomfort can be managed by taking prescription medication and resting. It is essential that you follow the post-surgical instructions provided by our team.

“I always hated the way my breasts looked and I could have never imagined that this kind of transformation was possible. I am just blown away with what you have done for me. You are an amazing doctor. You have given me a beautiful result and a new confidence and comfort with my body that I never had before and I am very grateful. Thank you so very much. I love my look!”

Breast Augmentation Faqs

  • Am I an ideal candidate for breast augmentation?

Candidates for breast augmentation surgery should be in good health and have realistic expectations of their outcome. Before undergoing breast augmentation, younger patients should have breasts that are fully developed and patients who have given birth should be finished breastfeeding.

  • Can fat grafting be used for breast augmentation?

Fat grafting (fat transfer) alone cannot provide significant volume for breast augmentation. However, some patients desire fat grafting combined with their implants for breast augmentation. Fat cells are removed from an area of the body with excess fat, such as the thighs, hips, buttocks, or abdomen, using liposuction. The fat is purified and then injected into the breasts for subtle, natural enhancement.

  • What results can I expect?

Breast augmentation can address small breasts, breasts that have lost volume over time, and uneven breast shapes or sizes. However, it cannot address significant breast sagging like a breast lift can. Discuss your concerns during your initial consultation with Dr. Fiorillo, and we will provide details about what results are expected after your procedure.

  • What are the possible risks of undergoing breast augmentation?

Complications associated with breast augmentation are uncommon and usually minimal. Some risks may include capsular contracture, change in nipple sensation, infection around the implant, swelling and pain, change in milk production (if you have nursed a baby within a year prior to the procedure), and implant rupture (whether as a result of injury or the normal compression and movement of your breasts). During your consultation and physical examination, you’ll discuss the risks and benefits of breast augmentation and your specific situation. Following your pre-operative and post-operative care instructions will significantly reduce your risks involved with this surgery.
