Medspa in Pearl River, NY offers Dysport® injectable
Dysport® is an injection treatment that is FDA-approved to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, by relaxing facial muscles on the forehead. It is comparable to BOTOX®. Dysport® is injected directly into the site of the wrinkles to prevent contraction of the underlying muscles. The difference between Dysport® and Botox® is that Dysport® diffuses into the muscles up to three centimeters from the injection point, while Botox®can only reach one centimeter. This allows for a single injection to reach more area.
What can dysport do for me?
As we age, skin loses it elasticity and the creases in our face turn into permanent lines and wrinkles. This is most common on the forehead and around the eyes and mouth, which are where muscles that help us smile and frown are located. Dysport immobilizes these muscles to restore a more youthful expression to the face, and actually trains the muscles to contract less often after several treatments.
Dysport® can also be used to treat cervical dystonia, such as neck pain and abnormal head position, as well as excessive underarm sweating.
Am I a good candidate for Dysport®?
Dysport® injections are ideal for nearly any patient in New York or New Jersey who wishes to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face and restore a younger and more refreshed appearance. Both men and women can benefit from this procedure and experience the physical and emotional effects of an improved appearance. Dr. Fiorillo can evaluate and tell you if Dysport® will be good for you. Just visit his medspa in Pearl River, NY.
If you are or suspect that you are pregnant or if you are breastfeeding or have neuromuscular diseases, you should not undergo this treatment.
How is the procedure performed?
For most patients, the area between the eyebrows is the target injection site for Dysport®. This will immobilize the facial muscles in the forehead that cause unattractive frown lines.
In general, the injections are painless and do not require anesthesia, however sometimes a numbing agent will be used to help minimize discomfort, especially if the patient is anxious about the procedure. Treatment sessions can be less than 15 minutes, and may be administered at 6 weeks intervals. Usually patients see their desired results after approximately three to five injections.
The procedure is quick and it is done right at Dr. Fiorillo’s medspa in Pearl River, NY.
What are the potential risks of Dysport®?
There are certain risks associated with any kind of procedure, but Dysport® is considered safe for most patients. Some risks may be related to allergic reactions or a condition known as Ptosis (droopiness of the eyelid).
What is the recovery from Dysport® like?
Some patients may experience mild side effects, immediately after treatment. These side effects may be soreness and bruising at the injection site, possibly with a headache for several hours after the treatment. Side effects will resolve themselves and can be relieved with mild painkillers.
Within 1 to 7 days after treatment, the results of the Dysport® injections will be visible. However, most patients see results on day 3. Dysport® is broken down more slowly by the body due to less protein than Botox, and can last as long as 13 months.
