With the economic rebound that has been experienced over the past year, more people are having plastic surgery procedures, with the amount of surgeries having increased by 5% from 2009. This is the first increase in the industry since the recession began.

In 2010, the most popular procedure performed was breast augmentation. Nearly 300,000 Americans had this procedure, which was followed by thousands of people getting eyelid surgery, tummy tucks and liposuction. Of all non-surgical procedures, Botox was at the top of the list.

It seems as though these people were waiting to have some extra financial resources available before they made the commitment to their surgeries. Now that the economy is slowly rising, people have a little more money available and plan on spending it in ways that will improve their appearances and self-esteem.

It is believed that there will continue to be an increase in the amount of plastic surgeries performed over the next year as people continue to get their finances in order. Consumers are willing to spend their money to look better, so a recovering economy is great news to the cosmetic surgery industry.
