Nipple Reconstruction: The Next Trend?
Posted August 24, 2021 in Plastic Surgery News, by Dr. Fiorillo
In 2010, breast augmentations were the most requested procedure in the United States. This year, there has been some talk of a new reconstructive procedure that involves the breasts and it could be the latest craze in plastic surgery. While it may be more common for women to desire to change the shape and size of their breasts, some are concerned about their nipples. It is these women that have inspired the reconstructive nipple surgery craze.
Issues Treated with Nipple Reconstruction
- Inverted nipple – this is a condition that effects only a very small percentage of women, and some experience more inversion than others
- Puffy or enlarged areolas – many women believe that these issues completely change the way that their breasts look.
- Large nipples – procedures can reduce the depth or diameter of the nipple
This is a procedure that is not at all common, but has been a topic of discussion by surgeons overseas. All procedures can be done on an outpatient basis. They may also be completed at the same time as a breast augmentation.
