In the months since local lockdowns and quarantine orders shut down most of the country, many people have had trouble maintaining their fitness. The fact that gyms are closed certainly does not help. Many of the normal exercise options available to people interested in fitness are not available at the moment, so alternative means of staying fit are necessary.

Some people have adapted well, taking up exercises that can be done at home, or doing activities like walking or bike riding that can be safely done while wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. For others, it has been harder to adapt.

For those who are struggling with keeping fit without a gym, EMSCULPT® can help.

What Is EMSCULPT®?

EMSCULPT® is a non-invasive procedure that uses electromagnetic energy to stimulate muscle contractions while the patient is at rest. In layman’s terms, it uses electricity to make your muscles tense repeatedly. The advantage of using electromagnetic energy is that it can cause your muscles to react as though they were under strain, without actually placing strain on them. This allows an EMSCULPT® treatment to simulate a heavy workout in targeted muscle groups to burn fat and build up new muscle tissue.

This treatment results in tighter muscles, less fat in targeted areas, and improved body contours.

How Does EMSCULPT® Help?

Unlike a traditional workout routine, EMSCULPT® is completed in 30 minutes. This treatment plan requires a series of sessions to be effective, repeated every three or four days (most patients undergo at least four sessions). It is not a replacement for exercise, but it can help keep you where you want to be if you miss the gym and need the extra help to keep your muscles strong and tight.

Is EMSCULPT® a Replacement for Exercise?

EMSCULPT® treatments cannot replace traditional exercises. The treatment is highly targeted, which means it does not improve your overall health. It does not increase your heart rate, and cannot provide the health benefits of cardio-based workout routines. We suggest that you perform cardio exercises such as running, jump rope, cycling, and similar exercises while using EMSCULPT® treatments to simulate weight training on targeted muscle groups. Depending on your fitness and health goals, you may also wish to add weight training exercises to your home fitness routine. Consult with your local gym trainer to determine what weight training exercises are safe and effective to perform at home.
