The best candidates for Gummy Bear Breast implants are:
The procedure lasts approximately two hours and is usually performed with general anesthesia at Dr. Fiorillo’s clinic. Discrete incisions are made in areas on the breasts where scar visibility will be reduced. These may be located in the armpit (transaxillary), in the underside crease of the breasts (inframammary), or around the areola (periareolar). The breasts are then raised, creating a pocket into which the implant is inserted.
Once Dr. Fiorillo inserts the Gummy Bear implants and repositions them beneath the nipples, he stitches close the incisions, tapes, and bandages them. In a few days, the bandages may be substituted with a surgical bra.
After getting Gummy Bear implants, you may feel tired and/or sore, but this usually subsides within a few days. You should be able to return to normal activities within a week.
Seven to ten days after the procedure, Dr. Fiorillo will remove the stitches. Any post-operative pain, inflammation and sensitivity will subside over the first few weeks. Scars from the incisions will start to fade in a few months and will continue to diminish for months or years after the surgery.
Any complications following the surgery are rare and seldom significant. They could include swelling and pain, infection around the implant, capsular contracture, a change in nipple sensation, milk production (if you nursed a baby within a year before the procedure), and implant rupture as a result of injury or the normal movement of your breasts. During your consultation, Dr. Fiorillo will discuss the risks and benefits of Gummy Bear breast implants to help you decide whether or not to undergo the procedure.
Gummy Bear implants have shown lower rates of complications than their counterparts. The form-stable implants do not wrinkle or fold, which are contributing factors to shell failure in other implants. Because of this, it is thought that Gummy Bear breast implants will show a distinctive longevity advantage.
Gummy Bear implants are FDA-approved and have been available in Europe since 1995 and in Canada since 2000, and are some of the most popular implants on the market in those countries.
