This week, ABC News is reporting on a growing new trend in the world of plastic surgery: couples exploring plastic surgery together. While plastic surgery is traditionally associated with women alone, ABC profiled one couple who wanted to “grow young” together.
“Heather and David Robertson have done everything together for 18 years,” reports ABC, “so when she decided to go under the knife, he didn’t think twice about doing it, too.” And, that mentality seems to be growing in popularity, explains the article. David, who suffered from a double chin, opted for a chin lift. For Heather, it was more about combating the effects of childbirth. “…We have had four children together and you know it takes quite a toll on our bodies,” David explained to ABC. “So if anybody deserves to get a tummy tuck, I think she deserves to get one done.”
And, the procedures seemed to have gone quite well. “Six weeks of healing later and the extra skin on David’s chin is gone,” explains ABC. “Heather’s baby fat after her four children is non-existent.” So, do you think one of the procedures is right for you or your significant other? Read on to learn more.
Growing Young Together
As a plastic surgeon in NJ and NY, I see all types of folks coming in for plastic surgery consultations. Want to know which procedures other couples are choosing? Here are a few of the top procedures for “growing young together:
- BOTOX®: Couples today are exploring all sorts of minimally-invasive treatments. These will often include BOTOX injections. BOTOX, which is essentially a muscle relaxer, works to combat facial creases like crow’s feet, frown lines and lines across the forehead.
- Tummy Tuck: Tummy tuck surgery is popular among men and women alike. Whether combating the effect of pregnancy, weight loss or the natural aging process, a tummy tuck procedure can effectively achieve a slimmer, trimmer waistline.
- Eyelid Lift: Eyelid lift surgery – also known as “blepharoplasty” is a common procedure aimed at correcting the appearance of sagging, drooping eyelids. To achieve a fresher, more youthful appearance, the procedure removes excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids.
